For some reason we tend to forget all too soon our joys and dwell endlessly on our sadnesses. If that weren’t the case, there would probably be a lot less country radio stations. I think Janet Reno said that.

v.1 you’re spendin’ all of your time, and all your money, in every dive in town, where forgiveness flows like water, and the neon lights are found, one or two rounds beats an empty bed hands down, so they say, and it looks like you’re gonna live, to miss her one more day.

v.2 it’s a three beer mornin’ after, and you swear you’ll never do it again, (next thing) you’re roundin’ up your quarters and your dimes, lookin’ for a number, seein’ who wants to play, and it looks like you’re gonna live, to miss her one more day.
