I got this lyric ready — with its shoutout to the 30th anniversary of DJ Shadow’s “Why Hip Hop Sucks in ‘96” — hoping to get a matching-enough assignment.

Well, if you want sources the dense, layered texture of instrumental trip-hop, there probably isn’t anyone better you could draw than BB. And *so* *many* stems!

But then you run into a snag: you have to know what you’re doing to really get that sound. And another: an infection bursts both of your eardrums, and you lose about 80% of your hearing for the first half of the secret mixter.

So this became a sort of try-everything project. Hope it came out alright.
