As you all might now, the first Creative Commons license set has been release in december 2002. There are a lot of playlists out there that highlight the music that has been released since that time.

I wanted to say thanks to all artists out there and pick ten songs and present them in a playlist. Then I thaught about it a second time and decided to try doing a little DJ set. Last time I did so was a couple of ago and with good old turntable. Found a sweet free software named Mixxx that helped me to mix something I dare to publish. :)

But there was another problem: How to pick the best of 8 years of finest ccmixter music? Again some thinking and I decided to let you choose. With the API’s help I looked up the Top 10 songs with the highest voting vom each year. From them I choose one as a represent. The result is a pretty relaxed playlist. ccmixter has a lot more to hear, but mixing dubstep, electro, rock, pop, hip hop, and a gazillion of other styles into a single set is far beyond my skills.

Last problem left: ccMixter started 2004 so I had to find a song for 2003. I decided to pick a remix of Ophelia’s Songs for three reasons:
* It is a great pella
* I know that it has been released in 2003
* I will be sued for publishing a remix of it, because GEMA does not believe that Marinella signed at SIAE after releasing it under a creative commons license.

So I have to say sorry to all artists that are not included and thank you to everyone here for sharing your creative work with the whole world!

Well, lot of words. Hope you enjoy this mix as much as I do my daily visit here at ccmixter!
