sometimes I wonder
if you think about me
I wonder if you even bother to
take the time to see
that I truly love you
I was just a bit confused
so I played childish games
but you were not amused

well I’ve had some time to do some growing up
I hope it’s not too late
I’m asking to have you in my life again
and I’m expecting you to hesitate
because I dipped in and out before
too many times I know
plus the last time I left
you told me to hold on
but still
I decided to go

they say absence makes the heart grow fonder
now I know that’s true
because there’s not a day that goes by
that I’m not both missing and loving you
and I apologize
for all the times I upset you
and maybe even made you cry
all of my struggles did not just happen
there’s got to be a reason why

so God
hear my plea
and realize that I am for real
and that with my confession
and my commitment
we can seal this deal
simply put
let’s be together
for today
for tomorrow
forever
