+++ Zeroes and Ones Joe the postman talks about The fingers he can’t do without And all the while he’s trying to Set them free Frank the butcher’s thinking of Vladimir Nabakov I wonder if he knows It’s really me I’m the one with changing eyes Zeroes and ones can’t sympathise No matter how hard you try You can’t go back again Teacher Sue is looking for A changing kind of carnivore She’ll never stop until she Knows its name The Silent One, our leader Is everywhere and nowhere I can’t believe we’ve followed Him this way But I’m the one with changing eyes Zeroes and ones can’t sympathise No matter how hard you try You can’t go back again There Is a place Where all the buttons work It Doesn’t end On arrival in Dunkirk Why Can’t you see How far we’ve come? There’s No looking back The past can’t be undone Alexander The Great Is trying to turn back the hate Before it devours him Totally Churchill’s aunt is on the phone A little accident-prone She might need some tea And sympathy ‘Cause I’m the one with changing eyes Zeroes and ones can’t sympathise No matter how hard you try You can’t go back again Yao Ming went round the back His dribble style under attack But he ain’t the kind to hang His head in shame Sergeant Smith has packed away His armies for another day No-one wanted to play His game But I’m the one with changing eyes Zeroes and ones can’t sympathise No matter how hard you try You can’t go back again But I’m the one with changing eyes Zeroes and ones can’t sympathise No matter how hard you try You can’t go back again
