I generally resist getting into situations that impose deadlines on me, so for years I have quietly declined the invitations to participate in these events. For CCMixter’s 20th Emerald Anniversary, I made an exception—and boy am I glad I did. I’m pretty sure I won the Secret Mixter lottery fresh out of the gate. But drawing Snowflake’s name from the hat comes with its own unique set of pressures—the bar is set high. I didn’t want to mess this up. I noticed Emily uploaded a powerful new song that beautifully captures the essence of her style—on the same day assignments were going out. I took this to be more than just coincidence. I knew that a song this good was going to spawn a lot of remixes between the 6th and the 27th. Nevertheless, the qualities of this song had made up my mind for me: “In the In-between” was going to be my choice. And so I offer—yet another remix—of “In the In-between” with a severe shift in gears at the self-indulgent “Epilogue”. Madame Snowflake, without you and your talents there wouldn’t be this “Mixterverse”—which I am proud to be a part of. My highest praise that I can offer is this humble remix. I will upload stems once we get past the official release/ reveal event. I would like to make an unusual dedication of this remix to Admiral Bob: may whatever good comes from this Emerald Celebration be channeled to a positive outcome for you.
