Though now tied to holiday cheer, it makes no mention of Christmas—just the simple joy of dashing through snowdrifts.

With a melody as timeless as the frost on a quiet morning, the song’s fame has grown like pine trees in a forest. In 1965, it even crossed the bounds of Earth, played on a harmonica during NASA’s Gemini 6 mission, a little holiday mischief from the stars. “Jingle Bells” reminds us of winter’s beauty and the universal delight of being alive in motion.
