Creatively, I took the time to look up the meaning of the lyrics for Oslodum before I used this in a work. Once I discovered it was about a fish festival in Oslo…

…I decided it was super appropriate to use it to remix “Penguin Highway.” I took the time to find a word for fish in his lyrics, in this case “bacalhau” which means “cod.” So the word you keep hearing him repeat? That’s the word. So he’s singing “cod” in the background of a kid appropriate rap song about penguins!!

I thought I shared the acapella here, but I have not yet. I’ll share it in about a week after the event is over. I won’t in this download because it would make using my acapella hard, because legally the sampling+ license would not allow a direct remix.

Quote: The song “Oslodum” by Gilberto Gil is a tribute to the city of Oslo, the capital of Norway. The lyrics convey the excitement of participating in the “Oslodum” carnival, which takes place on the day of the carnival. The opening lines declare the singer’s intention to travel to Oslo and join the festivities of the “bloco astro,” a group that represents the land of codfish. The song celebrates the diversity of cultures and traditions, as the carnival takes place every year, no matter the weather. The second verse reveals the singer’s desire to learn new chants dedicated to Xangô, a god of the Afro-Brazilian religion of Candomblé. In Oslo, Xangô is known as Thor, the son of thunder. The final verse is a declaration of love to a woman in the Pelourinho neighborhood of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.

So CCMixter has me upload under the same license, as far as I’m concerned my finished work is “By 3.0” if you want to publish it as is or rap over it. But you need to respect the Sampling+ and recognize Gilberto Gil’s contribution to it. Sampling requires you to follow the Sampling+ license.
