Flickr/del.ico.us style tags would be a great thing - you’ve already sorta got them in the profiles, where I can look for other folks who have used the same words as I have.

The ability to go to ccmixter.org/loops/tags/flamenco or to ccmixter.org/dstutz/tags/favorite would be very cool. Collaborative filtering-ish things are what make flickr stand apart from other media sharing sites - it has been written up lots of places, and would fit this site’s mission very well. The aggregation of tags from many people is what makes it work.

Here are a couple of write-ups on the concept:

Well this is a pretty great idea actually — and you’re right, we are damn close to being able to pull it off. (I got the first 90% working in minutes — it’s the second 90% that trips me up).

We’ll see how much of it I can pull off in the next few days.

Just great.

The trick is in not reimplimenting all the infrastructure for tags, I think. I wonder how well del.icio.us itself could be integrated?

I think incorporating del.iocio.us is a great idea at the macro level (remixes) and we should persue that for sure, but I don’t know enough about this to figure out how it would work with the bucket of attributes we haven’t dealt with at all (bpm, key, genre, etc.) — I’m having trouble making the connection…

ACID 5 has a pretty intense loop librarian built into it, also based on tags and it’s *very* granular, you search for things like ‘hit hat one shots’ … I think that’s the type of thing David is talking about.
