This comprehensive link for tweaking XP systems has been around for a while.

As with all such tip-list for tweaking you system my advice is the same: you should only this if you actually have issues (running out of CPU) while making music. You don’t want to mess with your setup if you’re not hitting any walls!

Wow!! Thats a serious laundry list of options to consider. I’ll definitely give it serious once over in a few days. I thought the Digidesign people were pestering me too much with their own “compato” requirements. But ever since I’ve complied with Digi (XP PTLE 6.9 Mbox 1), I have very few errors. Unfortunately I cant say I don’t still experience them, but they’re manageable. So hopefully the link you provided will give me some added insight to worry free audio recording. BTW, I don’t have any music production hitches, just recording audio.

Best things you can do to increase your computer performance using music software…

1. Dont Run antivirus software ( Norton / Avg etc.. )

2. Dont have anything Running in your Task bar !

3. for slow loading P.Cs Dont have quicklaunch and shortcuts on your Desktop.
fINALY …clear your system temp files and clear up ALL Old Registry entries…!

if your pc doesnt improve anything.. upgrade your base unit !
