Thanks man. I think I’m gonna be obsessed with these two instruments for a while. :)

very nice—-did you make your Hang Drum? I was looking into these recently and of course they can be very expensive. Being handy I was just going to make one but wondered just how successful that may be! they produce a beautiful sound.

Thanks. I was gonna make one too and make an array Mbira…they cost like $3000…ouch. These are both pretty incredible VSTis made by Sonic Couture.
The hang drum one you can program slap, knuckles, edge, center…and you can set the notes for the scale.
Pretty awesome because I did a few songs before I realized this. I was playing it on a keyboard with 88 keys and chromatic scale. Sounded so fake. When I switched to the authentic scale with just a few notes is when it came together.

I’m gonna experiment mapping the vsts to some other instruments…maybe even non instruments.
I’m thinking about making a kalimba and hang drum garden! The plants will be the instruments! ( look up makeymakey)

You can also make a tongue drum out of a propane tank.
The hang drum VSTi also has a tongue drum model.

I’ll upload some samples, probably this weekend.

Cool—those VSTs sound really good—-
Do you know of Diego Stocco? you may find him interesting—he’s made all kinds of crazy instruments and recordings—quite a well known sound designer.
Your comment on hang drum garden reminded me of this clip.

Great Jeris!

I first heard a Hang drum last year. I was walking down the busy street when I heard this amazing, etheral sound. I followed my ears and saw some young guy playing this odd-looking instrument. I was fascinated. I went home and typed a description into Google and discovered the Hang Drum. I think Tigabeatz on this website has one and has uploaded samples.
