Hello,
since 3 days now, i’ve been trying to U/L remixes made from material posted on ccMixter.
For instance, there is this track:

http://zikweb.org/article.p...
which I can not U/L.

Anybody experiencing the same at the moment or I’m the stupid one? ;-(

I tried to upload the file and received the same error.

I tested the file as well in a media player and it seemed just fine.

How did you make the file? Can you tell me the settings?

I need to track down if this is a bug in the settings for your file or with ccMixter/ccHost. Thanks!

thanks for taking care of my little problems :_)

to create the mp3, I transform a ‘regular’ wav file produced by Ableton Live 5 software (my audio tracker) into Xilisoft with following settings:
Version mpeg1, BitRateMin 128kbps Stereo, quality Normal and VBR Disabled at an output of 44100.

I would say it’s a common setting, and I never faced any trouble until then…

I hope this will nevertheless help you in finfing what might be wrong.
Thanks in advance for your support and for ccMixter being what it is…great!

this may be a dumb question but shouldn’t that be mpeg3 (mp3)?

well, it’s just because mp3 means MPEG1 layer 3.
mpeg3 is, to my knowledge, not existing.

but am I the only one facing this case?
I mean, this a ‘regular’ mp3, and it’s a shame I can’t U/L them here…
especially now that I’m working quite intensively with samples I’ve found here …

I know jon is (site admin) is looking into your case and activly recruiting help to figure it out.

We’ve tested with the most popular encoders (Fraunhofer, LAME, etc.) I’ve never heard of xilisoft so I don’t know which encoder they use.

We haven’t had a format issue with an upload since we enabled VBR about half a year ago.

I would take a look at it but I’m on the road until Wed. and my Internet connection is pretty flakey (borrowed) and I don’t have access to my full DAW to take a serious look at it until then (sorry).

We’ll get to the bottom of it and get you on your way. Sorry you’re having problems and thanks for your patience.

Peace,
Vs

(btw, I tried to download the mp3 from your site in Firefox but I kept getting it streamed in Quicktime, this could just be my laptop/connection setup. Do you have a direct link to the mp3 itself?)

Hi,
xilisoft is using Lame mp3 encoder, so that should not be an issue…
you can have direct access to the mp3 I’m trying to U/L here: http://forcemajeure.free.fr...

thanks for all

it looks like you’re using LAME 3.92 (from dec 02). All versions of LAME between 3.90 and 3.92 have a frame synch bug in the DLL when running in CBR mode and your file definitely is exhibiting. If you upgrade your system’s LAME encoder to the latest one ( LAME site links, old maz site may still work if you’re on Windows - scroll down to LAME 3.92) or use a VBR mode you should be fine.

Again, sorry for the hassle.

Thanks for your wise advices.
I’ve used winLame to encode my wav files; made an upload test here; and it worked.
that was a very peculiar situation to me as mu mp3 are recognized anywhere else.
but now that’s working and I thank you for you kind support.
