I created this piece to accompany a play that my uncle, Terrence Sherman, is working on. The lyrics are by his friend Dwight Stevers (dwight_poet). The music is by Ivan Chew (I just cut it up to make it work for this). A huge thank you to Ivan for contributing such fantastic CC-BY instrumentals to the Commons. Thank you, also, to Dwight- working with your words was inspiring. Hope you dig!

WORDS (by Dwight Stevers)-
Memory plays such tricks on us
Strange images, strange fruit
Hanging on us like albatross necklaces
Hanging us up, adorning us
Prisms of warped light, light speed emotions
Dangling in eternity, coloring the present
Presenting opportunities
Inspiring false identity

Go in, go deep
The reality, the finality
Give light, give truth
Rise up and remember
Go In, go deep
Rise up and remember

The timeless waste of innocence
Boring burrowing birth… again
Pull me down, give the gift
Send me wailing into life
Primal scream of creative youth
Questions and knowing all the answers
I saw the finger pointing down
Below the ground

Go in, go deep
The reality, the finality
Give light, give truth
Rise up and remember
Go In, go deep
Rise up and remember

Hanging on every word, ever song
We sang of longing and knowing
We sang for the souls, the solid ones
The dimensional shift, the shit
The crazy contraptions we live in
The blood and bones and breath
We sang for animal nature, natural beauty
The drawings, the artwork
The drawing in of air, the working draft
The endless work and toil and pain

Go in, go deep
The reality, the finality
Give light, give truth
Rise up and remember
Go In, go deep
Rise up and remember

Theories of strings and threads and beds
We lie down, a final resting place
The earth from death to birth
No way out, no exit
Once you’re in you’re really in it
Go the distance, the distant fingers
Pointing down into the ground
Below the earth, before the birth
Standing on the shoulders
The boulders, the elders
The limitless starry dimensions
Of pointless lives
Pointing to you, to me
To now.
