How I Did It

Uses samples from:
Tools I Used
synthesizers:
for the backbone: cravebehringer
for the main melodies crave and the crave provsmini
for the drive and flourishes : ae modular
Samples I Used
midi files
Process
I laid down a backbone ( d plus an octave) and then rearranged the midi until it seemed to suit my purposes. I took out a couple of notes, the only thing I added was the descending line at 1.23
I then recorded several takes with the crave and the aemodular synths, varying parameters on the fly,
in addition a take with the provs, which is a synth i hardly ever use, as too much is predefined, ( no patch cables!)
there followed a long period of arranging and rearranging in the daw. the only FX i used in the software was EQ and compression.
and I could ahve spent another several days working on the track, but for the time being it is finished.
Other Notes
what I loved about these files was the drive and energy in the piece! obviously my approach got rid of a lot of the subtelty ( microtonality and the sitar sound in general),and, in a month or so, if i were to revisit the track I would surely tweak and change a lot.
