Jackie Wilson said, “I’m in heaven when you smile!” Steve Bryant said, “Why can’t the guy like me get the girl like you?” This is our second attempt at remixing Steven’s “Girl Like You”. We had a short lived rock version that made us cringe so we took it down. We decided to try a Van Morrison-like mix; now we don’t cringe. William Frick’s recorded lead guitar from the rock version fit nicely in the R&B version. Swing that Steven Bryant vocal: This is a straight forward remix effecting a change of delivery style. Made a few minor tweaks (slice and slide to the right) to sync Steven’s voice with swing feel. The only challenge was considering how best to retain the Motown feel and instrumentation … when you smile!
