And back to July again. Well, as has been said before, you give the vocals the space they need. Great stuff.

Are you planning to do more treatments of Calendar Girl’s songs?

I like the way you leave plenty of space for the voice. Suits the feel of the words somehow.

old D is right, its the space you leave in this that really makes it. its a busy vocal and wants room! this is very subtle and expert.

This Fourstones, the La Vie Chill Fourstones, is my favorite. I respect your ridin’ the faders type work, but it’s tracks like this, which show off your chill, downtempo and your love of soul that really work for me when you record.

I heard this one first before you fixed it, and the one key critique I had then, the intro, seems better now. But I think that the piece would be better if that great melody ran for a couple of bars as the intro, to set the mood as in a “quiet storm” song, before we plunge in with Calendar Girl’s vocals. Charel Syte has some wonderful field recordings on freesound, and you’ve really made an effective use of this one. This is my favorite version of “July” thus far, and “July” is my favorite Calendar Girl ‘pella so far. This is up there with the Mumbletrain February as the really stellar mix of the calendar project thus far.

I SWEAR I didn’t listen to this until now! Too weird, I was wondering if anyone else took the slow approach to this, listening to the other remixes after uploading mine… and here’s yours! Very nice mellow stuff… kinda Peter Gabriel-y EP sound.
