The main thing is to have the action high enough so you can put a little pressure on the strings without hitting the frets. You can get a nut riser which will give a high action without any adjustments then it’s just a matter of getting used to the slide and tuning to a chord.

I only play bass, probably not the best instrument to use slide on. I can flip the string holders on the bridge over for slapping, but never did that. Gives it a very high action.

Just tried it on a bass a little weird but here it is.
