Thanks for taking up the remix challenge! I think you did a good job. You apologized for any intonalities — but I am not always the most exact singer so I apologize for that. I’m always working on trying to be a better vocalist (one of the reasons why I love ccM — is that I have had a place to “grow up in public” so to speak.)

Something we’re doing over here is putting together a live band to perform some of the ccmixter material locally (amateur of course, we’ll ask permission and pay otherwise).

Suprisingly, Autotune is good for vocal coaching, you can actually use it to avoid using it, as it can tell you how far out of scale your voice is.

Personally I don’t find your voice off-key, just harmonies in the minor suspended sevenths and weird stuff. The Sugarcubes are a cool band to check out, as singer Bjork sort of bridged the gap between tonal and antonal and actually pulled it off well :)

On that note, it would be a cool idea if performing CCMixter-sourced material to have a flyer to promote the project, that we could have available at such gigs. A .pdf or even simply a text file promoting the site- as we’re known as producers/session musicians as opposed to “name” artists, the gigs we play tend to have a lot of musicians in the audience who would likely be very interested.

I agree with you on both Autotune and Susan’s vocals. And I absolutely love Bjork.

This is very cool. Love the groove. It’s catchy, the drums are gorgeous and Susan fits like a glove.
