I’ve never used any of the “better” DAW software programs (my recently purchased ACID Pro 6 is the fanciest I’ve ever had, heh) so I’ll just say: whatever you’re dealing with, it still results in a well-arranged, hard-rocking, majestic SSB track; even if you’re frustrated, I’m glad you uploaded anyway!

Nice job and it doesn’t really sound like shit! I’m a bit confused about why a few of you think Logic sucks. I’ve been using Logic (Emagic) since 1994. I wouldn’t use anything else to be honest. I’ve worked on Cubase, Performer, Live, Reason etc. and none of them feel as comfortable as Logic. Sure if I had the cash I’d buy Pro Tools but even with Pro Tools you’re limited as far as MIDI and sequencing goes.

i agree, Logic is top-notch DAW. i use pro tools and i’d trade for Logic if I could afford it.

a few things about logic drive me nuts, but I could say the same thing about cubase as you’ve said about logic. I’m very comfortable in it, being able to adjust volume for regions independent of automation and actual wave file gain is a HUGE plus. the automation system is much easier to use than logic’s to me as well.

I think though to me the biggest factor is that if you want a really good computer to run logic you have to either settle for one thats stuffed inside a monitor or sell off half your fucking working internal organs to buy a mac pro with the specs you want. cubase was always more sluggish for me on osx for some reason, but it does seem to be much more used in the windows market, unless I’m wrong…. not to mention you can build a _screaming_ fast windows machine for what you can buy half a mac pro for.

bitching aside DAW use is very much a personal taste and experience issue, I like cubase because I can whip up a really usable mix in a very short time, I know what all the built in plugs sound like already and what their pros and cons are, I’ve mastered the editing system by now (yeah it took years but still), midi is still easiest of all the daws I’ve used. I’ve very much become a mac user over the last few years but my old recording pc is a tried and true thing I realize now, and why fuck around if it works? probably the same reason beatmakers still use the mpc3k, or guitar guys use 30 year old amps, some things just work for you.

sorry, rant over :)

I do know what you mean about the cost of a Mac! I’m stuck on an old dinosaur G5 dual 1.8. If I were to get a new Power Mac it would probably cost me $5,000 by the time I got done with it. I don’t have that kind of cash so unless I win the lottery or get chosen to score soft porn for Cinemax, I don’t think I’ll be so lucky. I spent nearly $1,000 for Logic. Now it’s half the price fro Logic 8. I’m not getting Logic 8 because from what I hear it is designed for the Intel Macs and runs slower on old Macs.

It took me some time since first hearing Five Months, Nine Hours before arriving here and listening to all of your ‘remixes’. I haven’t heard all 328+ remixes over at calendarsongs.com, but that one was and still is one of my favourites. I am glad you made it on that album with your August remix, but Five Months, Nine Hours should have been a bonus track on that album, if you ask me. But who’s asking anyway? ;-)

The other remixes prove that you are very talented, and I could and should have left a comment at every one of them, but I am a lazy person and I hope you forgive me for only commenting here (I have recommended them all, so hopefully that makes up for my laziness).

Anyway, another evening well spent (and most probably better than trying to come up with something new myself. But don’t tell Spinmeister. ;-) ). I am eagerly awaiting the Calendar Songs album and having at least one song of yours on disc.

Just straight dope! Well done, duke! I don’t know what you’re bitchin’ about, sir! you always seem to do quality work by the time it hits ccMixter.org! So I’m thoroughly confused???? BTW,

I have to disagree with you on a few things. #1 it sounds very good #2 I think Macs are the way to go when doing music on a computer. I used a roland 1680 for years and thought i was in heaven, but then i got a Mac and ProTools..Whoa… I love my Mac and ProTools. I think it’s a matter of not what you have but how well you master it.

Great track and an ED Pick for sure.

I have to admit- I am new to the art of remixing and was a bit naive when I posted my stems here. When I heard “Leaves of Autumn” it opened my mind to the different directions one can take with a song. I am in love with this remix in all its head-banging glory :))

Hey sleeperspaceborn, I have to admit it. I love your guitars, you should do some preset pack for the guitar rig and post it somewhere!!! hehehe.

You are insane, this sounds great, been meaning to listen to it for ages, sorry it took so long.

Stop whining and keep playing, you’re bringing out my maternal instincts. I come here to get away from that nonsense.

Never has “silence” benefited so much by the heavy application of well crafted noise. Keep ‘em comin’. Great stuff.

Mac or PC, it seems it has no bad influence on this outstanding track. Normally I am not a huge rock fan, but this remix is ear candy for me. These guitars and drums are played so great that I really want to start playing (air) guitar. Shannon_s “Silence” seems to be written for this track. Sounds like you both had a session in a studio!
