Dude. Where have you been? :)

It’s nice to see you around here again, and you’ve brought a lovely treat with you.

I really like the take here - so many version (mine included) have gone a bit dark and gloomy, and yours is a breath of fresh air. Very nice.

Production is very good. Clean and crisp. My only nag is that when the brass section really gets going the vocals end up in the background - but that’s a very minor point, because this is a lovely track.

Nicely done.

Hey!
I know, I know - I slowed down for a while and suddenly I had turned lazy. I’ve been watching tv, reading books, cooking, working out. At one point I even felt motivated to start a social life! All stuff I had forgotten about since getting Cubase in house some years ago :)

Glad you like it. I did actually put some effort in mixing the thing, but as always I had to leave some of the problematic areas unresolved. The clash between brass and vox is one.

Good to be back!

I love what you and your band created here! Just so fine and groovy, with enough sonic references to certain vintage sounds that whet my whistle to make me want more. Any chance you’d upload the instrumental track separately? Thanks so much for being part of The White Cube Remix project!

Thanks for those lovely compliments, SJ!

This is a brillient project to be a part of, and working with your excellent spoken word was a big pleasure for me.

I will gladly upload the instrumental track in a few days.

I hope Sackjo doesn’t mind me saying this as there has been tons of submissions for the white cube but the vocals here distract from the backing track which for me are the basis of a really good song.

Donalad Fagan, Steeley Dan you pick a reference. So i would second the idea of putting the BT up as a sample to see what could be done.

Nice to see you around here again.

I was struggling to make the bt and the vocals working together, and I was praying that there must be some truth in that opposites attract (not to mention that I was too much in love with my own piece to ditch it :)) Anyway, I’ll upload the bt in a few days - right now I’m bound for Lisbon.

Thanks for the nice welcome.

Very good piece man! The backtrack is excellent and very very solid.
