Intriguing … when Brian Eno wanted to create the first ambient music he created “Music for Airports.” an exceptionally minimalist piece with a few tones repeating semi randomly. Fast forward to 2008 where the typical level of ambient noise is so high and so complex that a sonic environment such as what you have uploaded is “music to be ignored.” You are on to something here. Provocative mix, Sir Drake ;-).

Why, thank ye kindly; I guess this is a “volume-flexible” track- you can knock down the volume for b/g use/bumpers, voice-overs, etc. or just leave as-is for its titular use. Sorta like video-game music that you never really notice, until the “pause” button’s hit…

Maybe it’s me but I can’t ignore music. Since I started re-mixing my condition has deteriorated rapidly. I will literally stop shopping in the drugstore to listen to whatever is playing. I’ll stand around in clothing stores with nothing I want to buy just to listen to the dance music and tease it apart. I comment regularly on my daughter’s video game music (of course I’m not playing the game). Maybe I need to get out more ;-).

Naw- you’re simply just as sadly afflicted as the rest of us! I meant more for those non-mixter Earthpeople. I’m sure many of us always have listened to music a tad differently ;-)

So while I (with the microscopic bladder) am in the bathroom all the cool kids are listening to cool stuff like this. No wonder I’m so unhip!

Awesome as always.

Thanks! Don’t feel bad; it’s still weird to me how many people there are who have never used a rotary telephone….

OMG I work with people who can’t tell time on an analog watch, never seen a telex machine or a printer/typwriter with a ribbon.

Rotary smoatary…. do you remember party lines? :-)

Yes- and how rich kids “had their own phone”! I also remember the purply glory of getting to crank out (literally) copies for the class on the mimeograph machine…

Fantastically effective. Besides the stated purpose, it would be a wonderful companion to a film of urban life or any number of art films. In a number of ways, it is very similar to the best art film scoring I’ve heard. (I’m a big fan of art film and experimental film, so consider that among my strongest compliments.)

*meow*

P.S. ccMixter is strong with the ambient and experimental today, for me at least. :D

Thanks for the power-endorsement, PC! BTW, the Zippy-like murmurings you hear are: “Spinach witch pajamas”, Bronchial Popeye spaghetti”, and “Rotten Thanksgiving chimneys in warm, steaming hospitals”. Just so you know…
