Love the sound of an upright that hasn’t been tuned in years. Nice playing, nice recording. Thanks for uploading.

I can’t get over how much this sounds like my own piano doodling. Spent much of my teens and twenties playing never-ending improvisations on any and every piano I encountered. You’ve inspired me to dig up through some old recordings and share them as samples.

Looking over your profile just now. We’re about the same age. Maybe that has something to do with why this playing style sounds so familiar to me. I took piano lessons for a year or two when I was 11-12, but never really learned how to read music or anything. Just got really comfortable playing “rubato” improvisations.

Thanks. Happy you like it. I had the problem with really bad piano teachers that couldn’t inspire me to learn more. Instead I had to play stuff I mostly hated. Also I hated they were telling me what finger should I use to press certain keys. I wanted to do it all by myself. After that I resigned and didn’t touch keys for a very long time. Now I’m 38 and learning all the stuff again by myself. No one tells me what finger should I use anymore.
