this sounds great, it all goes together really well, even the noise adds to the atmosphere.

Thanks - I’m pleased as heck you like it since the whole thing (harmonies, pacing, … ) was based around your upload.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. Much appreciated.

I agree with airtone - even the tape hiss works as part of this track. The percussive synth effects and staccato bass cut through it.

Glad to hear it. That’s sort of how I approached it, actually - I replicated a hissy section to fill out where I split the vocals so that it wouldn’t break the illusion.

The arp synth is a Reason synth with lots of reverb/delay on it to create a sort of pulsating carpet.
I used Airtone’s upload almost as a pad in itself because it has such a pleasant sound image.

Really appreciate the thumbs up.

very nice, colab. i love mvw’s voice & the backing track is just one big hook. re: noise reduction, GoldWave has a fully enabled trial download that does a good job. loved the track.

Re: voice - I know - it’s absolutely lovely in a way that doesn’t jump out at you when you listen to the original upload, but once you start to play with it you find a terrific vocal underneath.

Thanks for the pointer - I’ll definitely look into it.

Thanks for the review - glad you liked.

Thanks! It was time to go back to something more like this - a more mellow sort of melodic thing. Glad you enjoyed. :)

This is just absolutely beautiful! The semi-subtle background elements you added really help make this such rich and full track. I am moved!!

One has to listen with earphones to really enjoy this. Nice soft bass beats and synth work that enhances the track. Your version took the original interpretation of the song/ lyrics in a different direction, and yet retains the original sensitivity to my ears, .i.e sadness yet there’s an underlying hope. The part I liked best are after the first stanza, where the chords took on more of the ‘minor chord’ sounds.

Here are some personal preferences (i.e. my own subjective tastes): The piano gave that much needed sensitivity to the song. Liked that a lot. I would have featured the piano more. Perhaps even fade out the song with the piano trailing. Of course I acknowledge I might be biased towards the original idea behind the song, while you’ve your own interpretation (your title says “good luck” rather than the original “Not Goodbye”). In any case, nice one from you, yet again.

I have to admit I never listened to the original but just approached it fresh.

Re: piano - I hadn’t planned to include it at all - at first I was simply going to use the airtone upload; so the piano was a late addition. Maybe I’ll save the separate piano stems and upload.

Thanks for the detailed comments - very much appreciated.

Thank you - much appreciated. I had an earlier version with tons and tons of drums that build up which was more interesting than good, and I spent some time tuning the track and to strip away unnecessary bits. Glad you liked.

See if you hadn’t mentioned the noise I would have just thought it was intentional white noise. Kind of supports the whole lullaby feel of the piece. I’ve got a peaceful easy feeling.

Peaceful easy feeling is good. I’m glad.

Re: white noise - ahh yes. That’s actually a really good point - that if you can’t remove it then exaggerate it.

Thanks for the review.

Ahh now - that’s very nice to hear. Thank you for that.

I will say that I loved Airtone’s original from the second I heard it, and when I started to think back at pellas I’d like to work with it just made perfect sense to match the two.

Thanks again - really appreciate it.

The noise sounds like if you have included it in the track. This remember me your dishwasher :).
I’ll tell you a secret about noises: in ooma gooma my daugther went to WC and push the button of the lavatory (i don’t know how you say that in english) and the noise sneaked in the take of one of the guitars, i decided to let it…

Hahaha - you remembered. That brought a huge smile to my face - thanks. :)

And thanks for the insight to your ooma gooma upload. I can very much relate to the challenge of creating an environment suitable for recording (my three-and-a-half year old has his own ideas of what playing quietly means).

:)

Thanks. Very nice to read this.

Oh, how very nice this is. This is like caressing the inside of the ears for me:). So light, breezy, summery and overall just…like floating on a luftmadrass på Mälaren.

Haha - that’s very funny. When I was a kid our family cottage was here, so I know a thing or two about floating on luftmadrasser på Mälaren. Kallt djäkla vatten ibland. :)

Thanks Per - much appreciated.

Looks great. Mikael. Lake Mälaren was never too cold when I was a kid. Jag kan också en del om att flyta på luftmadrasser och paddla med armarna från den tiden:)

Nice Work Colab.
How do you guys find the time to put out so many good tracks. Between work, life, the dog, the school meetings, kids, the wife…. and the WIFE. How do you find the time?
Any way…Another fine mix

That’s easy - we don’t have a dog; and only one kid. :)

Thanks J. Much appreciated.
