Have you ever visited the Crater of Diamonds? It’s a volcanic pipe, in which amid the solid earthen day to day the most amazing stones wash up. People find peridot, jasper, amethyst and geodes. Once in a while, someone finds a diamond—often industrial, but sometimes a rare stone which can be cut into a gem of the top quality.

I spent a lot of my childhood at the Crater of Diamonds. You wander bare, open fields in the flat, dead volcano, and there’s this sense of incredible anticipation. Everything glitters, from the least valuable calcite to the most interesting diamond. You walk along the plowed rows of earth, watching for the glint of something sparkly. A few people off to the side pan the soil, rolling water as if watering a plant in the animal search for something mineral.

There is no solitude more pleasing than the solitude of looking for gems, and it never really mattered to me that I never found anything more valuable than a peridot. The rich variety of the different elements of the experience gave me a kind of joy I never lost—and retain to this day.

This mix marries the sense of earth-and-sky-and-gems-and-water and crystalline anticipation that I found at the Crater of Diamonds.

The way the mash-up blends disparate minerals into a jewel-like melanage makes me want to scoop up the mix, set it in my little sack, take it to the ranger, and have it dropped in the weight solution to test it for diamond.

Thank you for the full reference - it made me very, very happy to read your comment - I appreciate you taking the time to write.

I actually think I understood that, and if so it’s a great complement. :)

This was a pretty quick track for me - had some very limited spare time on the weekend and did a quick and dirty - so I’m really glad you connected with it. Thanks for your comment - really appreciate it.

Thanks!

Re: scratching - it actually runs throughout, but the track has been compressed to the edge of death so you can’t always hear it, but I thought it added a nice warmth to the track. :)

Thanks again!

Like your previous track, I listen to it still the…how much time? Don_t know, it doesn_t matter. I can_t get enough. The core track of BoCrew is still very nice, but your refining makes it to one of the best and relaxed soul/ambient tracks heard so far in this place and I accent it one more time, it is more than worth to put it on a classy bar-lounge sampler.
You have the feeling and the right hand for making this. All my respect!!:-)

Thanks my friend - you’re really too generous in your comments, but I’m glad it struck a chord (no pun intended).

The original BOCrew track is really amazing though. This track wouldn’t sound half as good without the excellent starting point.

I appreciate it - thanks!

Although I admit I was starting to feel like I’m stuck in a rut doing these improv tracks and how it’s time to move on to something else. :)

Thanks again.

Thanks - I appreciate it. I thought I overdid it a bit, personally, because I compressed the heck out of the track to make sure the rhodes cut in and never let anything else steal the show.

Really subtle effect, I know. :)

Again with the samples, d00d!! Ahh. OK. Perhaps. Problem is I never think they sound like anything much outside of a finished track.

We shall see/time will tell/etc., etc.

Thanks though. Really nice to hear. :)

Thanks - really pleased to hear it - sorry it took me a while to get back to you.

It’s true I had a bit of an obsession with the whole filtered/compressed/rhodes thing for a while, but I’m better now. I could stop anytime if I wanted to.

Promise. :)

Soulful, jazzy, and laid back. I believe that if Webster’s dictionary had sound bites, this would play when you looked up the word “COOL”
