For a moment I thought that there would be a Jane Fonda (at her best) reference in this track. ;-) Well, maybe it is. After all, my French isn’t that good. Anyway, a great track (but I wouldn’t expect anything less from you two). And remember, a good song starts with a good idea. Hmmm, I think I am going to add this one to my favourites playlist.

Ah yes … but perhaps not quite sci-fi enough. Although you give me ideas, which can be a dangerous thing. :)

Thanks!

delightful and delicious - Retro yet Nouveau - a great concept song - loved it! and the organ gives it that extra added verve.

Thank you for that - it’s TheJoe’s organ improv running along the track, and the track is better for it. :)

A real pleasure, and a great match with the vocals (which I love)

I completely agree re: the vocals. I know they’ve been done many many times before here, but I couldn’t resist them - very excellent. And to imagine it was her first recording with a mic is pretty neat. Sort of an Astrud Gilberto/”Girl from Ipanema” story, I think. :)

Thanks! We both had a hand in that - I created the bass line, and TheJoe took the MIDI files and played around with the sound to get it just right.
He also did a great job finding sounds and phrases to match/fill in the bassline.

As a former session guitarist I always found it hard when asked to work with another player to develop ideas. I like to lead and others follow!!

So to hear a piece of work done so well by two people is something I admire very much.

For me this is probably the best version of the pella to date and has class written all over it.

Very well done and Gold Medals all round as its the year of the Olympics!!

I am with you 100% on this one. I’ve been working on a solo basis for so long that it practically gives me a nervous breakdown to not be in absolute control of a particular project with other people.
Part of what made this special is that I didn’t have any specific expectation going into it - it was a very little, very simple idea that TheJoe took on and developed into something very special. And because I didn’t have anything very specific in mind going into it, I was able to let go of a lot of those concerns and just enjoy it.

Thanks for your comment, RT. Appreciate it.

Thanks - but again, I assure you that most of the credit goes to TheJoe. Sort of to my point to RT above, this is one of the first times I’ve had such a good experience with putting together what amounted to a very simple draft of an idea, and had another person develop it into a complete song.

Obviously I was very fortunate with who I ended up working with - but there’s an important lesson there for me about the value of trust and being able to sit back and enjoy the ride.

Then again, maybe it’s just the prosecco talking. :)

Thanks - I appreciate it. And see? This collaboration took about a year to come to fruition.

Despite delays, I still have high hopes for the two of us doing some work together. :)

Thank you, my good man. That means something.

And re: “Get Shorty”, I love that movie. It’s greatly underrated. Although the David Holmes soundtrack for “Out of sight” has the edge for me.

Wail, I’ve listened ta this several many times now and ifn this don’t warrant no editors pick then screw the editors. This is both a calculated and an accidental “one-off”. It don’t get no better. You friggin numbnuts. Or is the numbnuits?

The latter is probably more accurate.

Thanks for coming back to this one - it’s a special one for me.

Re: editor’s pick - I’m not fussed about it. TheJoe and I have gotten one heck of a reception with this track, and that goes a ways farther than a pick. (… he says and weeps a single tear; crawling under the desk for the comfort of darkness. Oh, and also the comfort of bagel crumbs.)

I wasn’t sure, but now it’s proven that Colab has a extrovert side (musically) as well:) Great feeling from start to end, and the “how we did it” note is intresting reading as well. Thanks to both of you!

Well, I’m not so sure about that. Whatever new sides that came out in this version is because of TheJoe’s influence. :)

I wanted to put more detail into the “how I did it” section to show a bit of how we actually worked together, and also to show how much TheJoe contributed. Glad you read it.

It’s very good. Really. Very interesting, because you have chosen a direction completely different of the original idea, but you have preserved this very sensual feeling of her voice.
Great work..
Thank you..!

I’m very pleased you like it since it’s a different take on the original version. Really appreciate you stopping by to leave a comment.

Oh, and I agree completely re: her voice. Quite exquisite. :)
