The most decent and matching backmusic for such an extraordinary vocal pella in my opinion. I like the close buid up that never gets too much in the foreground but anyhow gets more intense. Wonderful piano playing and accompainment as well for the pads and guitar. A good decision to leave out drums or any other instrument. That way you have created a track that breathes, nothing sounds disturbing, one has the chance to listen intensely to the extraordinary sound of K.Hersh_s vocals.
Etherealish soundtrack with a lot of beautiness. One of your best and touching tracks that I_ve heard so far!

High recommend. :-)

TJ - thanks for your comment, especially since I didn’t really go ahead with the changes you had recommended! :)

I’m glad you got what I was shooting for in this version.

Yes this has a great feel about it. Not in you face but still demanding attention. Very nice sounds you’ve made here and the piano is very tasty.

I’m just off to listen again in my flotation tank with my favourite rubber ring duck!!

Haha. Yes, well, whatever works. :)

I’m really glad you found this track and took the time to listen to it. Thanks for your comment.

Absolutely fantastic. As TheJoe wrote, it’s breathing. It’s living, surrounding you at getting inside you at the same time… very poetic.

Hey and thanks. Really appreciate the comment. Re: it being living - this was tricky for me, because I normally quantize the heck out of every track - but in this one I left it as recorded to get that live performance feel.

Thanks for stopping by.

in the absence of a flotation tank, this deserves listening on headphones to get the true impact of this.

Wow, this remix really takes you places. At first I couldn’t quite make the connection between the vocal melody and the chords of the accompanying track. But as the song played on, it landed little by little for me and became a really astounding composition.

For other listeners: I really mean it with the headphones - this remix needs the outside world to be locked out for full effect.

Wonderful work!

Hahah. Yes, well; these days I only get to work on music when my family is in bed, so I rarely get time to listen on proper speakers - especially on something like this where I spent such a short time on it.
Thanks for the feedback - really appreciate it.

Great job! Very subtle stuff, love the build. I’ve been hearing this voice for a long time (me being originally from Boston, Throwing Muses was heard a lot back then), and you truly match it well.

Well, that just goes to show how little I know about the resources here at ccmixter. :) Thanks for the Throwing Muses reference - very interesting to read about the band and about Kristin - much appreciated.

Also - thanks for the feedback - this was a bit of a detour for what I usually post as “colab”, but is very much what I enjoy playing. It’s the type of thing I would love to just play live, pounding away on a keyboard, for an extended 15 minute version. :)

Hello colab,

First thime I was listening through the track I thought it was lacking some drum parts (which you usually do so well). Then after some more listening I realise that the rythm of the bass and the guitar is just perfect. Congratulations with a really strong track.

Me too. I had a version that built up a rhythm louder and louder … but somewhere along the road I listened to it without the drums and thought, yeah, that’s it. That’s how it should sound.

The result is just a bit sloppy though - the vocals aren’t always in sync with the music, and the piano/guitars are completely unquantized, so a rhythm track might have helped. Ah well. Next time. :)

Thanks for your comment. I look forward to hearing your next track.

I think this is close to being my most favourite track of yours that I’ve heard. Such a lovely feel indeed. The build up if great, all swirls around your little head quite nicely, another song that I find quite sad but could listen to it many times (actually I have!)

Thanks; and thanks also for the feedback on the draft earlier - helped me from obsessing over the details on this and just uploading rather than overdoing this track. Cheers.

I’m a bit embarrassed that I haven’t visited more of your music. You have some really, really nice material. What I like most is the ambience and atmosphere you create. Nice!

Haha - no need to be embarrassed - there’s such a collection of excellent tracks here that it sometimes boggles my mind, because I know I won’t ever catch up. :)

Thanks for stopping by at this one though - it’s a bit older, and it was a really quick one - I know a bunch of things I should have polished, but I’m happy with the core idea. Glad you “got” it. :)
