Good ears because apart from the drums, acoustic piano and horns, which are sampled, everything else is synthesised.

The beautiful vocals are as untouched as was reasonable to sit in the mix. I hand adjusted the level of the vocals all the way through the song, then added a touch of EQ, reverb and delay.

As for the marching beat, I didn’t realise until you pointed it out and then laughed at how apt your description is.
