Great R&B backing track, Per. Very dark like an alley way. When the song kicked off, first envisioned work houses in a dark city like “In this dirty old part of the city, Where the sun refused to shine …” (Eric Burdon and the Animals)

You hit the Righteous Bros on the head. Panu and you are quite the team :P) Just a note a pro engineer friend told me, he said when you have a crash always add a kick with it. Fantastic bass too. Had to listen again.

Thanks for the tip, Gregg. I’m a bit of a percussion fetishist I must admit but I didn’t know of this. Thanks also for kind words

Oui, une ambiance crée dès le départ, avec des sons à fréquences multiples, une voix bien entraînante, et un travail rythmique de grande qualité, j’aime le son genre trompette\synthé, cela apporte une touche de nostalgie.Bravo, beau travail.

This has that expansive feel of late sixties soul, with the finger clicks, the upright bass, and the big orchestral strings. If I may say, you’ve still treated it with more subtlety than Phil Spector would have, who’d be in there all guns blazing (pardon the pun) with heavier drums and women singing ooh-ahs.

This song called for something more reflective than that, which you did.

Thanks, Admiral. In fact the whole Spector approach inspired me to do something even further in that direction. I might add cowbells the next time.

What a treat to find on a Sunday morning! Your backing track mirrors the significance of Panu’s wonderful lyrics, and there’s a feeling of restraint with tension building and building - plus there are some gorgeously unpredictable twists in the music. You create a deliciously brooding mood with this mix and Mr Moon sounds as smooth as dark chocolate (70% cocoa). Love it. xxx

It is a voice that you know, perfectly integrated. Once again, I’m speechless at listening to this track ….

it’s always a mini miracle the way a good track can add dimension to a song that began with just an acoustic guitar. your Ben E. King-style B/T and skill for finding the chords behind the chords are just perfect here. beautiful! thanks.

Very content with how this turned out eventually. What I considered a failure is now one of my own favourite Panu mixes. Keep the good pellas comin, man.

I’ve just finished recording a version of this, so listening to this Panu’s Pella was still very fresh in my mind. You’ve done a really great job on this Per with an association that I’d never have thought of.

Strings and a beat and panu moon’s mid-life anthem. I realize it’s entirely subjective, but to my ears you got it just right. Inspirational.

Really great job Per — the feel is just so full of feeling! I got me some shivers listening to the ascending string sounds. Mmmm.

Very nice. Really smart harmonies / chord variations. Can’t say enough about that - the strings do some really clever things that feel incredibly natural rather than showing off.

Lovely track.
