dear st. paul. this touched me….your mix and your words. how i wish America would heed the words of Martin Luther King, “Have we not come to such an impasse in the modern world that we must love our enemies - or else? The chain reaction of evil - hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars - must be broken, or else we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation.”

My hope lies in music and art - the languages of the Soul that touch people outside their political or religious beliefs. In this way, I believe ccMixter can help bring peace to a world in desperate need.

Thank you, again, for this emotional mix.

That’s very fine and wise writing, dear Emily. It’s your voice that makes the mix so emotional. I must admit I had a hard time keeping the tears away when I made it.

The mix of what sounds like a muezzin call with martial sounding western music is the perfect underpinning for the insistent call for refuge in “I’m a Soldier.”

Everybody should listen to this.

Oh WOW! What an intense, emotional and expressive song — the music building fantastically around Snowflake’s impassioned voice so that the power of this plea is felt intisde the bones. I kept cranking up the volume on each subsequent listen…that’s what I was compelled to do as I listened, again, and again.

Well, obviously, this is absolutely stunning, Per. Fierce, desperate and wild, as well as beautiful, it tears one apart to listen to it. This is an exceptional mix. xxxx

Bob, Sue, Paul, Mo and Z, thank you all so much for kind words. The mix has its imperfections, sometimes the sound is even disturbing but apparently the feeling I was trying to communicate reached out.
I wish you all a peaceful Christmas!

I nearly feel the same anger. It’s only a little bit reduced cause I had rather pessimistic expectations.
But some hope remained and is now completely disillusioned.

Very powerful. Definitely an emotional presentation. Also reminds us of how we are dehumanized by politics (ie big money). Nicely done, good choices of material to create your emotional statement.

Hej Per.

Has taken me a while to write a review here because I was struggling with wording a bit.

I think the music is some of the strongest you’ve done. It’s incredibly powerful - not in a music theory sort of way, but actually gripping stuff. Love the production - your usual skill in build-up and very well balanced, but with an edge to it.

Yeah, I love this backing track. :)

To my taste the vocals don’t go so well with this track though. I get the anger and intensity, but for me this would be a stronger track without the vocals.

Per, busy days kept us away from listening to new uploads… but we heard “Soldier” now… WOW!!! What a loaded and energetic piece you’ve created!!! We were completely mesmerized by it the instant we clicked the play button… and there are so many highlights / outbursts packed into this song that one hangs tied to it all the way through and until the end. The disturbance you mentioned suits the whole very well and adds a very appreciated roughness and edgy feel to it! Somehow one wishes for the “Soldier” to end abruptly and leaving nothing then a sound (and empty) echo… yet so it does anyway.

Thank you Per for having used our sample. We’re very honored to be part of the background and serving Snowflakes very emotive voice and your musical skills. This new stile suits you very well!!
Btw. The sample was recorded in Istanbul this summer. The recording features two alternating prayers sung from two minarets - one standing in Europe, the other one in Asia.

Hugs, moi and b.k. from AL

Two minarets, East and West….east and west…even more appropriate for this song. Almost mindblowing!

The idea to make this piece originates from a very inspiring conversation at the Bristol hotel in Oslo with Rolf G, the curator of the White Cube exhibition in Oslo. A conversation that will have some impact on my future view on music making. He’s an architect but in my mind he is foremost a true artist. A very inspiring artist.

Thank for a very nice review. Here’s a big Christmas hug back at the whole AIR_LOMEG collective. Soon, a new decade begins.
