Great filling out of a great song. But yes, it would make a good production improvement exercise. Maybe I’ll take it on, try to make it sound better (though there are many producers here better than I) without putting any of my personal ‘weirdness’ on it. That’d be a challenge for me. And fun too because I really like the song and the playing and the voice.

As long as the subject of sound quality has been risen I have an admission to make. For me the original excitement I had when you started uploading bass tracks has worn off some on account of having to deal with the buzz. I can get rid of it with noise reduction and EQing (notching) but not without also losing some of the frequency needed for the bass to sound it’s best. Again, I’m no pro, but I think this has to be corrected at the source. If I had a bass, and could play as well as you, I’d figure it out. (The same way I ‘figure out’ most things these days - I’d google it.)

Thanks for your words Speck, I appreciate it. I know about the buzz, but so far I had no luck getting rid of it. Will work on it, thanks again :)

Thanks for working on this—really appreciate it! And that’s very good advice from Speck, and very well put. Your bass playing is fantastic but remixing it can pose some technical problems — especially for non-producers/non-engineers (like me!).

I know, it’s bugging me a lot. I even got the advice turning off my monitor while recording. I will try a new cable, and playing further away from the PC. Bah! :/

Quarkstar has a forum post here that addresses the same problem (I think) with guitars, maybe also applies to bass? or maybe you can get some hints/starting points/suggestions from it?

Thank you Speck, I will look into it. Just bought a new cable and a better conversion plug, hopefully that helps (too).

Cool man. I had a buzzing problem for years, it’s funny when I first joined ccM I did one song and it took me years before I returned. Then I did like 3 remixes a day for months…lol. Anyway, the buzzing drove me mad, same thing…I’d cut the speakers off and it would get better.

I finally ran into a dude at Guitar Center that sold me this little direct box kinda thing and it was miraculous.

When I get home I’ll take a pic of it, find out what it is and let you know.

Thanks Jeris. I went down the local music store today and actually got the same advice. Thinking of buying one.

Thanks. That’s a different device that I had in mind, but I guess the ‘ground lift’ works in a similar way.

This is the device I was adviced:
