Well this is a nice drifting along piece and for the most it works well.

I found though that occasionally the percussive sounds you introduced a little overwhelming in the context of the mix.

On a more artistict point I would like to hear you do a more aggresive uptempo piece which I think will show your vocal talents in an even better light.

Aggressive and uptempo, hmmmm. I am not sure. 110 BPM is about my max, and even then I tend to half time the vox so it send up at 55. I am not sure I am the one for that. it’s hard to teach an old dog new tricks I suppose…

Well I respect that and doing what you do very well is proof of it.

Looks like I’ll just have to speed your vocals up next time!!:)

We’ve all known someone with a shy smile—not that nervous, desperate smile, but that effervescent and yet elusive, longing smile. It’s a smile which moves beyond the lips, up through the eyes, and with little charges of static electricity, passing through the air and through the shoulders simultaneously. It’s a quiet, knowing glance—perhaps not quite certainty, but certainly a kind of knowledge which only quiet intelligence and more than a dose of longing can provide. It’s all about implied promises—and perhaps the wonder (and the longing) of promises fulfilled.

In the mix, it’s an old chill convention, but perhaps a good one, to disembody some of the vocals and put them well back in the mix, almost ambiently. Similarly, the vocals might drop to a whispery flutter from time to time, to convey that sense of longing—would have to be done just right, or it would be too stage-y. The vocals sit “up” in the mix, which is good for me to hear the lyrics, but perhaps they might be “enveloped” a bit more by the mix. Yet those three suggestions do not take away from the solid, effective vocals you do here.

The instrumentation works very well on this one, and the little break in which things go quiet and ambient works nicely. It would have been cool to print the lyrics in the little presentation box.

A great job, once more. A nice change of pace, which works.

Thanks G
I usually lay the lyrics down on the a capella upload, but maybe better on the mix too.

you really seem to be developing and evolving. This is another example of how you’ve found a brilliant way to use your voice against music. You were very creative in combining all the various samples to create your track. You have your own sound. Keep going. : )

It’s interesting- this is a fragment of a piece I tried to pull off about 8 months ago, but did not have the technicalabilities. Thanks to a lot of constructive crit here though, Its moving along I guess. Thanks for the encouragement.

Yeah OD, this is really where it sits, although I am going to try employing the lower registers more. The key signature here is quite high for me, E Major.

I’m certainly happy to be part of this one (in the title, even… Woo-hoo!)- the alternating dynamic mirrors well the internal tide-pattern of intensity that can be experienced with unexpressed yearning. Very sexy and sophisticated stuff. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to go off and blush for a while…

I wanted to make some happy ending joke here, but I am not clever enough- glad you like it.

I’m a big Fan of the VOICE, and this track is very dirty, sexy & cool all at the same time. I have to say that sometimes the drum track seems to go off a bit, and jumps right back on time, but maybe that’s the effect you were looking for.
Duckett you have every right to go and blush

I think you and RT were correct, the drums get a little wacky in places. besides Duckett’s sample, which I just though was so cool, I have another loop up there on a saturator and random beat repeat so that just may have pushed it over the edge.
It’s nice to hear from you though- are things good?

Things are good, thanks for asking.
I’ve been very busy working with a few local artist.
I’m also working on Lamone’s new cd.
It’s always great to hear your voice.
