What a great song! Love the guitar, esp. the pinch-harmonics. The whole thing just flows so well. Fantastic job, Mr Orth!

I second that. You said what I wanted to say. Nice work with this Benjamin.

Cool. This was the remix I was trying to do, and the one you succeeded at.

It has power and grace. What more could you ask for in such a spiritual song?

this rocks so hard!!! nicely done. thanks for a great mix! love the guitar and drums and organ too. i like the breakdown section and the edit. love the dry treatment of the vocal….it still shimmers yet is clear and absent any washy verb or delay.

what software are you using?

Thank you, Emily!

I’m using Steinberg Cubase Essential 5 for recording and mixing (EQ, Compressor etc.). On your vocals I added a small amount of plate reverb with the CSR plugin from IK Multimedia. For the guitars I’ve used the Behringer V-Amp 2 (that’s a small virtual hardware amp like the Line 6 POD) with a classic Van Halen preset soundsetting for the solo parts and a classic clean setting for the rhythm.
The organ is the Nord C2 - my new favorite toy. :-)
Because I’m not a good bass player I played the basslines via MIDI with a bass sound from IK Multimedia’s SampleTank 2.5. The drum sounds are from XLN Audio’s Addictive Drums.
All effects on the instruments are from the virtual amps or instruments themselves. I only made some EQing during the final mix and compressed the guitar tracks a little bit.
The mastering I’ve done with T-Racks 3, also from IK Multimedia.

thank you for all of this info….i’m going to make reference to it in the future, i’m certain. (i have a Line 6 pod i sing through for live gigs)….i use pro tools 8 with an 003 and believe i have similar plugins…but i’m still exploring most of them. again, great mix.

I just wrote 10 minutes ago that I’m not a big fan of heavy guitars - and I need to correct myself immediately (sorry Greg). Great arrangement. I just need to start it once more…

Not a prob Roc lol. Awesome arrangement on this Ben! One of your best here so far. I like the way you bring it down with the organ then back up with the heavy guitars.

Another excellent track, great instrumental work completed with professional production.

Schöne stimmungsvolle Ballade, Gitarre hört sich echt klasse an, erinnert mich stark an GN’R Slash. Weiter so!
