PROTOCOL

About Me
Protocol is a name that best describes this artist in complete language of intention. A remote control of Hip Hop success manifested out of poverty. As his grandmother’s choice of talented offsping, he was raised with a “tough love” program to battle the opposing force and powers of negativity. The community of Dalworth, Texas marks to the place of his first reality. A small town between Dallas and Ft.Worth,Texas; adorned with southwestern sunsets and classic industrial sounds of southern railroad systems.
Ironicly, he grew up listening to a major black radio station’s broadcast of classic soul and blues from the other side of this railroad system. “I would often find a solace or comfort in listening to AM rather than FM frequency. It’s something about that ol’ static. It’s like the pop of a record. The sound of it is there, but it adds to the majestic value of what is heard.”
While growing up in the 70’s and 80’s, as a musician’s son (drummer on Galveston Island), funk became his ear and Hip Hop reserved his spirit. With an NAACP award of academic achievement and licenced trade of commercial art before college attendance, Protocol achieved his first step between dream and plan. His desire was to strive toward complete independence in two of the most important mediums of visual and fine art. By the early to mid 90’s he would persue the difference of mediums by sneaking a few digitial production courses as a fine arts major in college.
“It ain’t no surprise to hear the sound of a changin’ heart”, says Protocol as he confidently projects his East Texas accent. “Potential is a child of expectation. As a fully grown man, I’m not a child of anyone’s expectations, but my own. I instinctivly check my nature before expression.” His passion does not go foward without distinction. His ideal perception of music is realistic imagination and nothing less than surrealism. In conclusion to this brief introduction, Protocol best discribes his strong attention to the subtle movements of a beast, such as the street; while illustrating the lack of understanding variable character as “the hood”.
