Process
I used Sound Forge to reverse engineer the BPM of the a cappellas (90?), then dropped them into FL. I added a little de-essing, slight stereo spreading.
I took two beats in Stylus that were originally marked as 140 BPM and slowed them way down. I used the Stylus randomizer to jumble up the beats. I tweaked the actually beats in FL piano roll throughout the process.
I recorded the bass part, two-fingered keyboard (softsynth) and guitar parts directly into FL.
I then spent the a fair amount of the time removing notes and otherwise damping parts.
