Tools I Used

I recorded on an Edirol R09, using the built-in stereo microphones, at 24 bits 44.1 KHz. I kept pitch and tempo by listening to an instrumental by Angus Skrim with headphones and my Ipod. I trimmed, normalized, reduced to monaural, and wrote as a WAV using Audacity. I created the OGG upload with "oggenc -q 10". Raw files are available, but too long for upload.

Original Samples

I sang text from the folk ghost story "Taily-Po," taken loosely from the Uncle Remus version (which should be public domain by now). I sang one take, improvisationally.

Other Notes

Fun experiment. I went a bit sharp at two places for effect---I think it's right, but your taste may differ. I played with throat sounds (like Tuvan and Tibetan), which I would like to learn to do well.
