Included in this zip file are two pellas with original melodies(Eros & Escape Plan). Both are immediate recordings so will require filtering and EQ. I have them as FLAC & WAV too if you want. The third attached file is the lyrics/pella for “Submerged”, a DJ Rkod song.
The first is “Eros” - adapted from a poem by Eugene Field with original verses added and inspired by the so-called “art songs” of the 1940s.
Lyrics:
Eros is the god of love
He and I are hand in glove
All the gentle muses sing
And follow Eros where he leads
And they bless the bard who chooses to proclaim loves famous deeds
Him they serve go happily that is why they’re good to me
Whether you are sad and blue
Or happy in the life you’ve made
There is always something else
That tugs your heart
So I suggest
Always give in to your gleanings
And be true towards your leanings
So when all is said and done
You’ll be left smiling in the sun
Gentle Eros lead the way
I will follow while I may
By the path by hill or hollow I will follow fast and free
And when I am too old to follow I will sit and sing of you
Potent still in intellect I sit and sing and retrospect
#2 is an original lyric - “Escape Plan” - has a quasi 1960s feel (a la Donovan?) and was intended to be somewhat psychedelic with sitars, etc.
Lyrics:
There’s a place to be on the other side of things
Not the pristine world of interior design
Not as spooky as Alice and her wonderland
But not as sweet as apple pie
It’s a place that’s real
It’s a place you feel
Not feelings someone’s made up for you
It’s a place of trust
Leave ‘em in the dust
Try it on for size
Its made for you
When there’s no-one left in your static world
Tyranny of things takes its tell-tale toll
Drawbridge over moat
Step into the boat
Wave goodbye to all that longing
Tip the jailer well
Hounds let outta’ hell
The spacecrafts waiting for you
We’ll be blasting off
Let ‘em cuss and scoff
As we zoom to higher safety
When we were just kids
We knew everything
We were kings and queens, it was our lot
But old Father Time
Scythed our nursery rhymes
Our escape plans we soon forgot
The 3rd file is the pella for a DJ Rkod song, titled: Submerged (click download tab for the mp3 file)
Lyrics:
Come up for air
Come up and breathe
You’ve been submerged for centuries
Let Lloyd Bridges rest
Let Bathysphere’s be
Shed air-tanks and masks
Resign them to the foamy sea
Feel the freedom
Clear atmosphere
Step onto dry land
Let’s get out of here
Don’t call Jules Verne
In his Chambered Nautilus
Let giant squid be
20,000 leagues under the sea
Come up for air…..
Up periscope
Submarines rise
Feel the warm sun
Dry watery eyes
Don’t call Neville Shute
Leave him “On the Beach”
With T.S. Elliot
His mermaids and his peach
If Davy Jones tries to reel you in
Don’t look back
Don’t give in
Come up for air…..Come up and breathe…..
