O My Antonia is part of a song-cycle which seek to capture an quintessential American spirit. The 3 A.M. Association piano is a perfect melody to couch my lyric in. I added some cello as well.

Lyrics:

Oh my Antonia
Where will we be
After the Ice Age
Cold memory?

No extreme weather
Banjoless knees
Oh my Antonia
Sea to shinning sea

Your letters arrived
But oh too late
Your words sabotaged
By the hand of fate

I burned them all
Setting your thoughts free
Scattered the ashes
What will be will be

You left your car keys on the table
The Freeway now another fable
You gave the sky back to the birds
At the airport, so I heard

Maybe you’ll come back someday
And find the traces of your former stay
In a hundred years when all is dust
But don’t come back, unless you must

Oh my Antonia
Where will we be
After the Ice Age
Cold memory?
