I’ve tried to match the lyrics to the beautiful simplicity of the Skye Jordan sample. I wrote them not long after my mother died when I was too distraught to sing them. I’ve had another go and just about managed to wobble through the song. As I can’t face the prospect of re-recording my part I hope the struggling vocal isn’t too embarrassing.

My dearest dear
We were friends so long
But every bond must break
No matter how strong
My dearest dear
I depended on you
Then you depended on me
Your Little Boy Blue

My little love
How did you get so small?
Not so long ago
You were so straight and tall
My dearest dear
Now there’s no more us
No more simple things
That were so wondrous

My dearest dear
I sweep the yard
The nights draw in again
The days are hard
My dearest dear
This road is so rough
You live in my heart
That will have to be enough

Oh my darling
Oh my darling
Oh my darling
Oh my darling

Oh my darling
Oh my darling
Oh my darling
Oh my darling

My dearest dear
That’s why they say
It came to pass
It didn’t come to stay
My dearest dear
