When I heard Ben’s pella, I thought his gentle voice reminded me a bit of Nick Drake.
So I tried to make a Nick Drake song, the romantic ethereal early 70:s sound only British singer/songwriters had. If there’s someone not so familiar with Nick Drake, he didn’t have a good life. Never had a proper relationship, suffered from depression and insomnia and died from an overdose of antidepressants at the age of 26. The three albums he made during his short life sold nothing until after his death when he got cult status and came to represent a sort of mythical doomed romantic hero. His albums still sell. And on the copyright subject, 36 years after his death, I wonder which ones are getting his royalty checks now and what creative part they had in the making of this troubled soul’s music.
